SWOSU scholars
Southwestern Oklahoma State University students Olga Castaneda, of Pampa, Texas; Brock Mason, of Tuttle; Eric Morland, of Mustang; and Kenedie Walker, of Hammon, have been named the 2020-21 academic year Madge Lenz Jordan Scholars by the SWOSU Foundation Inc. in Weatherford.
The Madge Lenz Jordan Scholarship Fund was established at the SWOSU Foundation in 2015 to benefit SWOSU students studying in the departments of Education, Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Physics, and Social Sciences. The fund was established by Marilyn Doty (SWOSU Class of 1966) of Auburn, Washington, to honor her mother, the late Madge (Landers) Lenz Jordan.
Tech center awards
Moore Norman Technology Center employees recently earned multiple awards during the 53rd annual Oklahoma Association for Career and Technology Education's Oklahoma Summit held virtually across the state of Oklahoma.
Winners included:
Bridgette Cannon, dental assisting instructor, was honored with the 2020 Carl Perkins Community Service Award, Health Careers Education, for her work with the Little Smiles program.
Bruce Campbell, former finance director, was honored with the Silver Key Award for 25 Years of Service to Oklahoma CareerTech.
Crystal Conner, MNTC medical assisting instructor, was honored as the New Teacher of the Year. Conner received a $5,000 award from Express Employment Professionals.
Tina Fitzgerald, MNTC employment services coordinator, was honored with the Guidance Award of Merit.
Terri Helvey, MNTC executive director of instruction, was recognized as a graduate of the OkACTE Fellows program, Administration Division.
Jared Williams, career connection specialist, was honored with the OkACTE Kaleidoscope Award for
his work with the MNTC Re-Entry Employment Services program.
Oklahoma Postsecondary Career and Adult Education (PACE) Award winners included:
Gina Bertoletti, business development coordinator, was honored with the PACE Innovation Award.
Andrea Dixon, adult development coordinator, was honored with the PACE Diversity & Inclusion Award for her work with the Sparrow Project.
Moore Norman Technology Center also earned its 18th Gold Star School title. This voluntary program is designed to recognize technology center districts that have met rigid and demanding criteria demonstrating a high level of excellence. The Gold Star School award provides recognition to districts with exemplary programs designed to meet a broad spectrum of community needs and is sponsored by Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers.
Sunbeam board
Sunbeam Family Services has announced five new board members.

Red Bud Classic board
The Redbud Classic recently welcomed its new board members and recognized the 2020-21 board officers.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Redbud Classic was canceled.
Thus, the 2020 beneficiary, the Oklahoma City Police Athletic League (OKC PAL), will continue as the 2021 beneficiary. The Redbud Classic's annual race is scheduled for April 10-11, 2021, and proceeds raised will further OKC PAL's mission to provide athletic programs, leadership skills training and service opportunities to the students and schools involved in their programs.
