Six players to watch at the state tournament
The Class 6A-5A volleyball state tournament begins Monday.
The Class 6A matches will all be at Choctaw High School, with quarterfinals and semifinals being Monday and the state championship at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Class 5A will follow the same format, but Monday will be at Shawnee High School and its championship match at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Choctaw. Here are eight players to watch at the state tournament:
Lainie Britton, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: Britton was a defensive specialist on the 2018 title team and is a libero this year. Her leadership will be key, as the Wolves are going for state title No. 8.
Aubrey Cramer, Sr., Edmond North: The fouryear starter is trying to help the No. 8 Huskies defend their title. She has 535 digs this year and is stout defensively.
Ruby Kelley, Sr., Mustang: Kelley is a leader who finds ways to impact the game in all facets, whether its with her spikes or ability to dig the ball.
Riley Roberts. So., Norman North: Although she's an underclassman, Roberts is a key cog for the Timberwolves. She's one of their top hitters and reliable everywhere on the court.
Dylan Sokolosky, Sr., McGuinness: The Fighting Irish run a 5-1 set, so Sokolosky's importance is huge as a setter. She averages 25 assists per match and is a team captain.
Cami Turner, Jr., Deer Creek: The Antlers' setter runs their offense and is the team captain. She averages 26 assists per match for No. 6 Deer Creek.
