Horn camp reports $1M for final push

Bice funds top $332,000 in one of the nation's most closely watched races

state Sen. Stephanie Bice had $332,000 left to spend in the hotly contested 5th District congressio­nal race, accordi n g t o c a mpai g n f i n a n c e reports filed Thursday

R e p o r t s c o v e r i n g t h e first two weeks of October show $ 345,337 i n receipts f o r H o r n , D - O k l a h o m a City, and $325,408 for Bice, R-Oklahoma City. Through Oct. 14, Horn had raised a total of about $5.6 million for the race, while Bice topped $3 million this month.

In addition to the millions of dollars spent by the candidates, several outside groups have invested heavily in the race, considered among the most c o mpeti t i v e House races in the country.

T h e D e m o c r a t i c Congressi onal Campaign C o m m i t t e e r e p o r t e d T h u r s d a y i t h a s s p e n t nearly $ 2.5 million on the r a c e . A g r o u p c a l l e d t h e Congressio­nal Leadership Fund, which opposes Horn, has reported spending about $3.5 million.

The 5th District includes

most of Oklahoma County and Pottawatom­ie and Seminole counties. Election day is Nov. 3 , t hough nearl y 2 00,000 Oklahomans have cast absentee ballots by mail already. I n- person absentee voting begins Thursday.

I n t he U. S. Senate r a c e , incumbent Sen. Jim Inhofe, a Republican, reported having $ 1.1 million left in his campai gn a c c ount on Oct. 1 4, while Democrat Abby Broyles had $129,245.

I n h o f e r e p o r t e d m o r e receipts than Broyles in the first two weeks of October, but his total included a transfer of $155,000 from the Oklahoma Republican Party about a week after Inhofe's campaign transferre­d the same amount to the state party.

I nhofe's campaign manager did not respond Friday t o a q u e s t i o n a b o u t t h e transactio­n.

Not counting that transfer, Inhofe raised nearly $131,000 i n t h e f i r s t t wo wee k s o f October, while Broyles raised $168,597.
