3-2-1 KICK OFF

- Scott Wright, Staff writer

Here's a look at some of the key players and questions in No. 6 Oklahoma State's game against No. 17 Iowa State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium:

3 players to watch

Spencer Sanders: Sanders' presence and ability to move the offense down the field is the biggest key to an Oklahoma State victory on Saturday. The Cowboys need Sanders playing at his top level to fully use their offensive weapons.

Amen Ogbongbemiga: Chasing Iowa State running back Breece Hall is going to be a group effort, but Ogbongbemiga will find himself in the hole often. One of the team's most reliable tacklers, Ogbongbemiga can't afford many misses.

Tre Sterling: Sterling had one of the best games of his career against the Cyclones last season, with nine tackles, including one for loss, and one of the Cowboys' three fourth-quarter interceptions. Sterling can be an impact player against the run and pass.

2 big questions Can OSU win the turnover

battle? Late interceptions helped the Cowboys put Iowa State away in last season's meeting. And a fourth-quarter turnover by OSU was costly in the loss in Stillwater two years ago. This series has been full of one-score games lately, so turnovers likely will have a major impact.

Will Mike Gundy really play two quarterbacks? Gundy suggested he might play both Sanders and true freshman Shane Illingworth on Saturday. But i f Sanders i s moving the offense and avoiding catastrophic mistakes, i t seems l i ke i nserting Illingworth would only have a negative effect on Sanders' rhythm.

1 wild prediction

Tight end Jelani Woods catches five passes. It would more than double his production to this point in the season, which consists of two catches for six yards. But hitting a few passes in the middle of the field should help open up things for the outside receivers and for the run game.
