Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary: Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of Oct. 19 through Thursday.

Receipts: 28,846; Last week: 30,003; Last year: 39,290

Compared to last week: Combined weighted average for seven auctions: Ada, Apache, McAlester, OKC, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder steers sold $3-$10 lower. Feeder heifers $1-$12 lower. Steer calves steady to $6 lower and heifer calves steady to $8 lower. A cold front will move across the state next week bringing chances of rain and snow. Slaughter cows steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls mostly $1-$5 lower. Packer demand moderate. Supply included: 87% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 43% Heifers, 8% Bulls); 9% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 4% Replacemen­t Cattle (21% Stock Cows, 69% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs. was 48%.

SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Live trades in the southern plains sold $2 lower and in Nebraska mostly $3-$4. Dressed trades in Nebraska sold $4-$6 lower. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 91,892 head. Last week's total head count was 111,123 head.

Federally Inspected Cattle: 643,000 head up 0.5 percent from a year ago.

USDA'S Cattle of Feed Report

Cattle on feed as of Oct. 1, 2020 totaled 11.7 million head, 104 percent of a year ago. Placements in feedlots during Sept. totaled 2.23 million head, 106 percent of a year ago. Placements of cattle and calves weighing less than 600 pounds were 20 percent, 600-700 lbs. were 16 percent, 700-800 pounds 22 percent, 800-900 pounds 23 percent and 900 lbs. and up were 19 percent of the total placements. Marketing's of fed cattle during the month of September totaled 1.85 million head and were 106 percent of a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $64.21.

BOXED BEEF

Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday Box beef cut-out values: down $2.33 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $217.49; Select 600-900 lbs. $191.40.

MEAT PRODUCTION

Beef: 541.4 million lbs. up 2.6 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 574.1 million lbs. up 0.4 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 2.3 million lbs. down 8.0 percent from a year ago.

CATTLE CARCASS WEIGHTS National Average: This week estimate: 844 lbs.; Last week estimate 843 lbs.; Last year's actual 826 lbs.
