Ice storm won't delay early voting

Despite Oklahoma' s unusually wacky weather, early voting for the Nov. 3 election will begin Thursday.

County election officials in Oklahoma, Cleveland and Pottawatom­ie counties said Wednesday their early voting locations have power and are ready to go for the three-day early voting period that ends Saturday.

“Early voting will take place regardless of the conditions,” said a spokeswoma­n for the Oklahoma State Election Board.

In Cleveland County, elections officials have generators on standby and apr ed own loaded list of registered voters in case the internet goes out.

Reached Wednesday afternoon, Oklahoma County Election Board Secretary Doug Sanderson said both of the county's inperson absentee voting sites were ready.

“I couldn't tell you what's going to happen in the next five minutes, but as it stands right now, we' re good to go,” he said.

Early voting will occur in all of Oklahoma's 77 counties from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

In Oklahoma County, early voting will occur at the Oklahoma County Election Board, 4201 N Lincoln Blvd, and at Edmond Church of Christ, 801 S Bryant Ave.

In Cleveland County, early voting will take place in Building E at the Cleveland County Fairground­s, 615 E Robinson, and the Moore Norman Technology Center, 13301 S Pennsylvan­ia Ave. in Oklahoma City.

Voters must present a photo ID or voter identifica­tion card at the polls. All voters are encouraged to wear a mask for in-person voting.
