Bixby's Presley records first career touchdown

- Hallie Hart, For The Oklahoman

After OSU's shaky start on offense, a freshman from Bixby made the Cowboys' first touchdown of a 20-18 win Saturday at Kansas State.

Brennan Presley, the 2019 Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, showed spectators that his skills from high school can translate to the college game.

Although he is a receiver, he scored his first career points on a rushing play. Presley displayed his speed with a 9-yard run into the end zone in the third quarter, playing a crucial role in the Cowboys' comeback vi c - tory. With Alex Hale's extra point, Presley's touchdown cut K-State's lead to 12-10.

“It was a well-organized play,” Gundy said. “It was blocked well, but he still made the play. Dipped in and dipped back out and ran in and got to the corner of the end zone.”

Second quarter starts with unusual punt when ball hits official's foot

An official nearly affected Kansas State's field position without throwing a flag or making a call.

OSU's Tom Hutton opened the second quarter with a 50- yard punt that landed inside the 1-yard line, and the play quickly took a bizarre turn. The ball bounced toward the end zone and hit the right foot of back judge Daniel Young, who deflected it back onto the playing field.

Officials ruled it a touchback but reviewed the play to determine whether Young had been outside or inside the goal line. If he had stood just a little farther forward, his foot would have prevented the touch back, likely setting the Wildcats up around their 3 or 4-yard line instead of their 20, but he didn't have to endure the embarrassment of accidentally influencing the game.

Following the brief review, official Michael Vandervelde announced that the initial ruling remained in place; Young was in the end zone. The Wildcats started the drive on their 20, and after OS U' sr ed-zone defense refused to allow a touchdown, K-State capped the sequence with Blake Lynch's 29-yard field goal.
