Combined weighted average for 7 auctions: Ada,Apache, McAlester, OKC, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder cattle and calves sold $2-$8 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Cattle futures started the week sharply higher and then traded mixed the remainder of the week. Demand was very good for heavier weight feeders. Higher feed prices has buyers preferring to buy the weight than the feed. Moisture from the ice storm a few weeks ago, followed by warm temps helped wheat pastures. Thus farmers ready to turn calves out on wheat. Slaughter cows and bulls steady to $5 lower on increased numbers. Packer demand moderate. Supply included: 90% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers,0% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (93% Cows,7% Bulls); 4% Replacemen­t Cattle (76% Bred Cows, 13% Bred Heifers, 11% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48%.

Live trades in the southern plains and Nebraska sold $3 higher. Dressed trades in Nebraska $5 higher. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 99,050 head. Last week's total head count was 124,710 head.

Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $59.11.

HOG SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.688 million head down 2.6 percent from a year ago.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Sheep: 35,000 head down 12.5 percent from a year ago.

BOXED BEEF Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday Box beef cut-out values: up $11.32 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $225.98; Select 600-900 lbs. $209.46.

MEAT PRODUCTION Beef: 549.8 million lbs. down 0.1 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 582.9 million lbs. down 1.6 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 2.1 million lbs. down 19.2 percent from a year ago.
