SOONER S '3-2-1 KICK OFF

- Jacob Unruh, Staff writer

Here's a look at some keys to keep an eye on when No. 18-ranked OU hosts Bedlam rival No. 14-ranked OSU on Saturday.

3 players to watch

Marvin Mims: The freshman has had a breakout season, leading the team in receiving yards. He's also tied for second with 25 receptions. He's been huge as the Sooners' receiving depth was tested. Now nearly complete, Mims is even more dangerous with more options on the field against a deep OSU secondary.

Ronnie Perkins: The Sooners' defensive leader has played in just two games following his suspension and he's been a huge lift. He's totaled eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss. His presence is crucial against an inexperienced OSU offensive line that's struggled of late.

Rhamondre Stevenson:

A powerful runner, Stevenson has dominated since his return from suspension. In two games, he's rushed for 191 yards and five touchdowns, settling down the Sooners' rushing attack to open things for quarterback Spencer Rattler. But Stevenson faces his stiffest test yet this season against an OSU defense that has allowed 142.2 rushing yards per game.

2 big questions How do the Sooners defend Spencer Sanders?

OU's defense has not faced a unique quarterback like Sanders this season. His ability to run and pass, even with a tattered offensive line blocking, opens new challenges. If Tylan Wallace and Chuba Hubbard are healthy, Sanders is even more dangerous. But the Sooners have a huge advantage with their defensive line, which has dominated this season. Get to Sanders before he can make much happen and it'll be a strong night.

Can Spencer Rattler and Co. break through against OSU's secondary?

OSU's secondary is deep and talented. Rodarius Williams is arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the country. Safeties Kolby Harvell-Peel and Tre Sterling have been excellent. And the Cowboys have allowed just 169.3 passing yards per game this season. The Sooners average 350 yards through the air and they feature a loaded receiver corps. that could break down that secondary. Rattler has settled down as well, putting the odds in his favor to solve the Cowboys' defense.

1 wild prediction

Sooners score twice on defense. The Cowboys have a turnover problem and the Sooners seem to have solved their inability to force turnovers. That's a recipe for a huge day defensively for OU, leading to two huge defensive scores.
