Sooners' game with Florida pushed to next season

OU's men's basketball team might open its season this week, but it won't be against Florida.

The Sooners and Gators, who were scheduled to play Wednesday in Norman, have mutually agreed to cancel that game and have pushed the start of their home- and- home series to next season, OU announced.

It's the third game the Sooners have had wiped out to start the season, beginning with the Nov. 25 game against Texas-San Antonio and Saturday at Central Florida.

OU paused organized team activities on the same day it was scheduled to open the season due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing among the team. The OU women's basketball team and football team also took similar actions last week.

The So one rs' next scheduled game is Dec. 6 at TCU in their Big 12 opener, though there is a possibilit­y another game could be scheduled this week.

KENTUCKY 64: Blake Francis and Nathan Cayo powered Richmond to its first road victory over an Associated Press top 10 team, rallying in the second half to beat the Wildcats, 76-64, and giving the Spiders their biggest win away from home in program history.

SOUTH CAROLINA 69, TULSA

58: Jermaine Couisnard scored 20 points, AJ Lawson added 17 points, and South Carolina beat Tulsa in the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. South Carolina trailed 51-49 with 10:47 left after Tulsa's 11-3 run. But the Gamecocks answered with a 15-0 spurt —with five points from Lawson — to push their lead into double figures for the rest of the way.

IOWA STATE 80, ARKANSAS

PINE BLUFF 63: Newcomer Jalen Coleman-Lands scored 17 points, Rasir Bolton added 16 and Iowa State took over in the second half. The Cyclones, in their season opener, trailed 37-34 at the break before Coleman-Lands, a graduate transfer from DePaul, sparked a second-half rally. TCU 56, LIBERTY 52: R.J. Nembhard scored 14 points and TCU held on for a victory over Liberty in the championsh­ip game of the Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.

82: The Bears shook off a sluggish start to the season Saturday, MaCio Teague scored 21 points and Baylor won its delayed season opener 112-82 over Louisiana-Lafayette.
