COLLEGES KU-OSU women's game postponed

Three Big 12 women's basketball games, including Saturday' s contest between Kansas and Oklahoma State in Still water, have been postponed due to COVID issues. Other games called off are Kansas at Baylor (Sunday) and TCU at Kansas State (Jan. 14). A big matchup scheduled for Thursday, Connecticu­t at Baylor, has been canceled after Baylor coach Kim Mulkey tested positive for COVID on Monday.

The Big 12 is working with its league teams to reschedule games for later this season.

OU wrestling announces attendance plans

Due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precaution­s, Oklahoma will not sell tickets to Saturday' s dual vs. Arizona State at McCasland Field House. Home and visitor student-athletes will receive a limited number of compliment­ary tickets on a pass-list basis.

The So one rs' home dual vs. Oklahoma State on Feb. 7 will be held at Lloyd Noble Center and is scheduled to be a ticketed event for the public. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 and can be purchased through SoonerSpor­ts.com or by calling the ticket office at (405) 325-2424.

Ticket holders are required to follow CDC guidelines and wear masks at all times at wrestling events. Gates will open one hour before competitio­n.

National title game still on schedule

College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock said Tuesday

the national championsh­ip game between Alabama and Ohio State is still a go for Monday night amid a report that the Buckeyes ar e having COVID- 1 9 issues.

AL.com reported that Ohio State has been in contact with CFP officials about possible player availabili­ty problems that could force the game to be delayed. Those discussion­s were confirmed to The Associated Press by a person with knowledge of the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity because no one had been authorized to speak publicly about the details.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said in a statement that the Buckeyes continue to follow the same protocols they have all season. “We plan to play January 11,” Smith said.

Hancock said there were no changes and the game in Miami Gardens, Florida, between the topranked Crimson Tide and the third-ranked Buckeyes was still scheduled for Monday night as planned. WEST VIRGINIA: Former Oklahoma quarterbac­k Austin Kendall is now a former West Virginia quarterbac­k. Kendall, who transferre­d from OU to West Virginia, said he plans to play elsewhere next season.

NFL Browns head coach, others to miss playoff game

The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday coach Kevin Stefanski has tested positive for COVID-19 along with two additional members of the coaching staff and two players.

The others who learned Tuesday morning they tested positive for the virus are three-time Pro Bowl left guard Joel Bitonio, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, tight ends coach Drew Petzing and defensive passing game coordinato­r and defensive backs coach Jeff Howard, according to multiple reports.

None of them will be able to join the Browns (11-5) at Heinz Field when the team visits the Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) for an AFC wild-card game at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Special teams coordinato­r Mike Priefer is the acting head coach with Stefanski out, the team announced.

Lynn, the Los Angeles Chargers have requested permission to interview a pair of offensive coordinato­rs — with the New York Giants' Jason Garrett and the Buffalo Bills' Brian Daboll, according to two NFL Network reports on Monday night. Garrett, who was fired as the coach of the Dallas Cowboys a year ago, compiled a record of 85-67 in more than nine seasons.

SOCCER Energy FC signs veteran midfielder

Oklahoma City Energy F Ch assigned veteran midfielder Seth Moses. He played 11 games last season for the USL's Las Vegas Lights FC, leading the team in passing accuracy at 84.7%. The Energy, which will begin its eighth season this year, will announce a schedule at a later date.

NHL Sponors attached to division names

First came the advert i sements on helmets. Now comes the sponsors attached to division names in this realigned NHL season.

The league announced Tuesday the official division names for the 2021 season, and each of them are joined by a corporate sponsor for the first time in history.

The divisions are as follows: Scotia NHL® North Division, Honda NHL® West Division, Discover NHL® Central Division and MassMutual NHL® East Division.

According to ESPN, the selling of naming rights to its divisions is "viewed internally as a one-yearonly campaign ." The league is scheduled to start an abbreviate­d, 56-game season on Jan. 13.
