Byron S. Wise

Mr. Byron Spear Wise Jr. of Newalla, OK was called home by the LORD on January 24, 2021, after a weeklong battle with COVID19. Byron was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and lived a long life with honor and integrity across eight decades. As a young man he raced Harley-Davidson motorcycle­s in Georgia and Florida in the 1950s before joining the Army where he served from 1953 to 1956 in the 88th Airborne Antiaircra­ft Artillery Battalion, 11th Airborne, initially as an enlisted man and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. After leaving the Army he served as a motorcycle policeman for a short time before becoming a truck driver for Time-DC. In 1976 he moved his family to Newalla, OK while continuing to work for Time-DC until transferri­ng to Roadway in 1982 where he continued to drive until retiring in 1990 when he began working as a Teamster Union representa­tive until his final retirement in 1997. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and served faithfully as Worshipful Master, as well as Secretary for many years at the McLoud, OK Masonic Lodge. Byron was predecease­d by his wife of 58 years, Hallie Cynthia Wise. Survived by children Douglas L. Wise, Newalla OK; Dana N. & Kendall Schuler, Shawnee, OK; Phillip D. & Robyn Wise, Germantown, MD; Richard B. Wise, Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchild­ren; and 3 greatgrand­children. He was a Soldier, Husband, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, and was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. We know he is home now with the LORD and our hearts find peace in knowing that we will see him again when the LORD calls us home. The family will not be holding a service or public visitation due to the ongoing pandemic. A memorial service is planned for this fall when it is safe to have public gatherings.
