ARCADIA — Love is in the air at the Arcadia Farmers Market General Store, where you can fill your own Valentine's Day gift basket or purchase an alreadypackaged theme basket.

New on the shelves are rubs, sauces, brisket mops and other meat flavorings from Butcher Barbecue. David Bouska, who has spent 34 years in the meat business, said he is pleased to be able to showcase his products at the General Store. His son's restaurant, the Butcher Barbecue Stand in Wellston, is immensely popular with Route 66 travelers, and Bouska wanted another opportunity to be part of the Route 66 experience.

“I watched when they started putting it in,” he said of the yearround food and gift store that is an outgrowth of the outdoor Arcadia

Farmers Market.

“That is a wonderful spot. I love the location. I wanted to be in that mix.”

Butcher Barbecue also caters to hunters, offering Wyld Seasoning for such wild game as elk, deer, bear and goose, and seasoning and casings for summer sausage. The business picked up wholesale customers from across the globe after the Butcher Barbecue Stand was featured on all-star episodes of the Barbecue Pitmasters reality television program in 2012 and 2018.

Other ideas for filling Valentine baskets include Oklahoma-made hot chocolate bombs, cake pops, homemade truffles, gummy candy, and red and pink aprons made by an Edmond seamstress.

Baskets also can be filled with the ingredients for a meal, including homemade enchiladas, chips and salsa, or cheese and sausage for one of the handcrafted charcuterie boards sold at the store.

Handmade bath and body products, cut flowers and potted roses are also a perfect fit for Valentine baskets, and customers can place orders for gluten-free pies, cakes and lemon bars.

Wicker, tin and wooden baskets are available, or customers can bring their own. Wrapping is free.

The Arcadia Farmers Market General Store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Odor Street and historic Route 66 in the Windmill Shops. For more information, call 405-226-0346 or check the market's social media pages.
