Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Lewis

BETHANY - Dorothy Jean Lewis, age 86, passed away February 14, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Dottie was born on December 20, 1934 in Erie, Pennsylvan­ia to Michael and Mary Kuchar. On July 6, 1957, she married Thomas C. Lewis. In 1968, they moved to Oklahoma with their four children. Dottie was a homemaker in Bethany for 52 years and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was involved in Healing Hearts at Christ The King Church and Parish Star as a pen pal to second graders at the school. Dottie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, china and oil painting, golfing, boating, knitting, sewing, reading, yoga, tennis and golf. She made friends easily and was known for her special banana bread that she baked regularly for friends, family and local business owners. As a dog-lover, Dottie owned German Shepherds for more than 60 years. Her dog Roxy and cat Cookie miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Mary Jablonski, Ann Kuchar, Marjorie Sundy, Joseph Kuchar, Michael Kuhar, Pauline Winne and Theresa Slencsak. She is survived by her loving family; daughters, Cheryl Ann Ridener, Darlene Marie Hayes, Cynthia Carroll Donaldson and husband John; son, Thomas Craig Lewis and wife Kristina; grandchild­ren, Russell Carl Ridener II and wife Lauren, Michael Brandon Ridener and wife Lynn, Madison Taylor Emerson and husband Alex, Lauren Donaldson Foster and husband Evan, Jillian Kathleen Bundrick and husband Nelson, Meredith Elaine Donaldson and husband Luke Atkinson, Thomas Brandon Lewis and wife Mary Kate, and Joshua Craig Lewis and wife McKenzie; great-grandchild­ren, Peyton Ridener, Skylar Ridener, Camdyn Ridener, Erin Ridener, Tyler Emerson, Savannah Lewis, HaiLee Lewis, Ryker Lewis and Ford Foster. Viewing is from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 18th at Smith & Kernke N. May Funeral Home and a Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, February 19th at Christ The King Catholic Church with interment to follow at Resurrecti­on Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Dorothy’s name to the Audubon Society, Free to Live Animal Shelter in Edmond or plant a tree at arborday.org/memory.
