Astros 7, YANKEES 4: José Altuve responded to jeering fans by marking his 31st birthday with a go-ahead, three-run homer off Chad Green in the eighth, and the Astros beat the Yankees to avoid a three-game sweep.

PHILLIES 2, Brewers 0: Zack Wheeler struck out eight and tossed a three-hit shutout and Alex Bohm homered to lead the Phillies to a four-game sweep.

RED SOX 12, Tigers 9: Franchy Cordero came off the bench with three hits to snap an 0-for-25 slump, then brought home the game-winning run in the eighth.

Rangers 4, TWINS 3 (10 inn): Willie Calhoun’s RBI single in the 10th gave the Rangers the lead in a victory over the reeling Twins.

Mets 4, CARDINALS 1: Taijuan Walker allowed one hit in seven innings, the Mets scored three runs on bases-loaded walks and beat the Cardinals. Walker struck out eight and walked none.

Cleveland 4, ROYALS 0: Triston McKenzie bounced back from a rugged start to pitch one-hit ball into the sixth and Cleveland completed a four-game sweep.

Blue Jays 10, ATHLETICS 4: Randal Grichuk homered, doubled and drove in five runs to lead the Blue Jays. Marcus Semien also homered among his four hits.

Braves 3, NATIONALS 2: Ehire Adrianza made the most of a rare start with a two-run single as Atlanta swept the Nationals for the first time since 2014.

Diamondbac­ks at MARLINS (late): Adam Duvall hit his fifth home run to lead the Marlins over the Diamondbac­ks 8-0 on Wednesday.

Rays at ANGELS (late): Albert Pujols has been designated for assignment by the Angels.
