The Oklahoman

Cindy Brady Larson

-

Cindy Brady Larson returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the age of 60. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Larson and wife Megan; her parents, Vernon and Deanna Brady; her sister Kari Surbeck and husband William; her niece Taylor Hall and husband Aaron; her nephew Will Surbeck and wife Bayli; her former husband, Christopher Larson; along with her four cousins and their families.

Cindy was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she was known by her friends as “Brady.” In high school she weighed all of 95 pounds but had a big personality, an infectious laugh, and drove a big, green pickup. She was always genuine, never pretentious and you always knew exactly where she stood on things because she told you straight up.

Cindy was no stranger to a challenge and never backed down from a difficult task. In her early 30s she found herself alone to raise her 2-year-old son. She embraced the enormity of the task with courage and the two of them built a life together. Cindy took immaculate care of her son and saw to it that he had plenty of love and everything he needed regardless of what else she had going on. Nick was the pride and joy of her life and she would make any sacrifice needed to support his well-being. She had a glowing smile as she watched him graduate from college, marry the love of his life, and excel in his professional career. She was equally devoted to her family. She nursed them in times of need, supported them in times of vulnerability, and loved them deeply and unconditionally.

Cindy had a gift for being able to connect with adolescents and young adults. She could empathize and counsel them when they were down and ride their case when needed. She was the mom who helped host the all-night party after high school graduation, the mom whose house kids would flock to after school for her “special” mac-n-cheese (Kraft mac-n-cheese with extra cheese). She continued this mission as house mom for the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at OSU. She nurtured, mentored, and helped them out of countless jams as she forged many more long-term friendships. She derived the most pleasure from helping others and never focused on herself. Not once.

Cindy graduated from Oklahoma State University with a business administration degree. She enjoyed several different jobs, and eventually realized her lifelong dream of becoming a successful business owner. Her recipe for success was personalized friendly service, and continuous improvement. The same love and dedication went into her store and employees as did everything else in her life. She called it her happy place.

For fun, Cindy loved fishing most anywhere, especially at Grand Lake or Roaring river. She was a lover of board games and card games. During holidays family members would center around her to laugh and play a new game. She also loved golfing (especially with her friends from Grove), reunions with her high school buddies, road trips, and last but certainly not least, junk food.

Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the love and devotion she showed us and the many other lives she touched. She packed so much love, joy, and laughter into her 60 years, that we are blessed with a lifetime of cherished memories. We take solace in our belief that she is happy and safe in the arms of Jesus. We hope he stocked up on chocolate cake and Dr. Pepper. Cindy, you are forever in our hearts and we will see you again within the twinkling of an eye.
