THE OKLAHOMAN’S 2021 CLASS B FOOTBALL PRESEASON RANKINGS

1. Laverne (11-2): The Tigers advanced to last year’s state finals and have another talented team.

2. Shattuck (10-2): It claimed state titles from 2017 to 2019 and fell to eventual champion Dewar in the semifinals last season.

3. Dewar (14-0): The Dragons defeated Laverne 38-20 in the 2020 championsh­ip game, claiming their first title in school history.

4. Tulsa Regent Prep (10-2): A 44-19 loss to Shattuck in the quarterfin­als ended its 2020 season.

5. Davenport (10-2): The Bulldogs have consistent­ly been a contender in recent years, advancing to the semifinals in six of the past seven seasons.

6. Pioneer (10-4): The Mustangs made it to the semifinals last year before falling to Laverne.

7. Velma-Alma (10-2): The Comets had a solid 2020 season, advancing to the quarterfin­als.

8. Covington-Douglas (9-3): The Wildcats and Pioneer are tied for first place in the preseason coaches’ poll for District B-7.

9. Cherokee (8-2): The Chiefs are the favorite in District B-2.

10. Caddo (7-3): The Bruins have a stellar senior class and 15 returning starters.

11. Balko-Forgan (8-6): The Bulls lost just one starter from last year’s team, which made it to the quarterfin­als.

12. Waurika (6-4): The Eagles had a big playoff win last year, beating Southwest Covenant 58-36.

13. Snyder (7-4): The Cyclones gave Velma-Alma a stiff test last year in the second round of the playoffs, but Velma-Alma won 58-56.

14. Garber (7-3): The Wolverines have good tradition, and their last title came in 2009.

15. Quinton (8-4): It beat Arkoma in the

second round of last year’s playoffs before getting shut out by Pioneer. 16. Broken Arrow Summit Christian (7-1): The Eagles’ lone loss last year was against Davenport in the third round of the playoffs.
