Champion was honored Aug. 5 during an in-store ceremony for her efforts in promoting optimism and positivity and making a lasting impact.

Metro Tech employees honored

Metro Tech employees were recently recognized for their commitment to career and technical education during CareerTech’s 2021 Oklahoma Summit Conference.The Gold Star award was also presented to Metro Tech for demonstrat­ing a high level of excellence.

The following Metro Tech employees were presented Oklahoma Associatio­n of Career and Technical Education (OkACTE) awards:

Anita Parks, coordinato­r for Profession­al Developmen­t, received the 2021 OkACTE Dennis L. Portis III Rising Star award for New & Related Services (NRS) division.

Janet Portwood, Pre-Engineerin­g Academy and Lead the Way teacher, received the 2021 OkACTE Dennis L. Portis III Rising Star award for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineerin­g & Math) division.

Lamont Harris, adult instructio­n coordinato­r for Economic & Workforce Developmen­t, received the 2021 OkACTE Outstandin­g New Profession­al award.

Reinaldo Diaz, director for Economic and Workforce Developmen­t, was a nominee for 2021 OkACTE Administra­tor of the Year for the Business Marketing, Informatio­n Technology Education (BITE) division.

Harrison Wolohon, Digital Cinema career program teacher, was a nominee for the 2021 OkACTE Teacher of the Year in the Trades & Industry Division.

Amanda English, Basic Police Officer Certification (BPOC) instructor and coordinato­r, received the 2021 ACTE National Teacher of the Year award.
