NFL star to share tragic story at conference

-

YUKON — The life of NFL Pro Bowler and University of Oklahoma football star defensive tackle Tommie Harris was forever changed following the sudden death of his wife Ashley.

Harris will discuss how he coped with the tragedy and sign copies of his new book at the F.U.E.L. Leadership Conference set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at The Good Fight Church Event Venue, in Yukon. F.U.E.L. is an acronym for “Filling Up Every Leader.”

Harris, a Lombardi Award winner, is considered to be one of the best defensive tackles to ever play in the NFL. As impressive as his award-winning accomplishments may be, as a single parent trying to move on with his life, Harris said he would gladly trade it all in if it meant having his wife alive and well.

Leaders attending the coming conference will hear who he endured as he shares how he has lived and led through adversity. Harris will sign copies of his new book “Endure, Playing Through Life’s Hardest Hits.”

“The purpose of the F.U.E.L. Leadership Conference is to provide leaders with inspiration and encouragement,” Ray Sanders, founder of the conference and chief executive officer of Coaching Leaders and Edify Leaders, said in a news release.

Other stories of inspiration that will be shared include: Living and Leaving a Legacy by Randy Kamp, chief executive officer of Johnny Carino’s and Kamps 1910 Café; and The Cheating Leader by Pastor Josh Laughter.

The conference is free but registration is required. Sponsors have paid for the cost of the conference and evening meal.

Leaders are encouraged to register no later than Tuesday. To register for the conference, go to FuelUpLeaders.com.
