"Bewitched by Orchids" Show and Sale: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3, Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36. Masked required. Presented by Oklahoma Orchid Society. Water-Wise Plant Selections for Oklahoma: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Via Zoom. Julia Laughlin, Oklahoma County horticulturalist, will showcase waterwise plant selections that thrive in Central Oklahoma. Registration required to receive the Zoom link. Have you ever thought about keeping backyard chickens? Hens are fun and easy pets to include in your life, and they lay eggs, too! Come meet a couple of local hens and learn everything you need to know about raising and taking care of your own flock. Instructor: Sara Braden has been sharing her backyard with chickens since 2009. $10/person or $15 for a pair.
Foraged Floral Arrangement: 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 25, Garden Classroom or Terrace Room and Garden Grounds, Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W Reno. Ave. Cost: $45 members, $50 nonmembers. Learn how to create your own floral arrangement using seasonal flowers and foliage collected from the garden grounds. Register at myriadgardens.org.
Worms Make Me Happy: How to Build a Worm Bin: 11 a.m. to noon, CommonWealth Urban Farms, 1016 NW 32. Allen Parleir loves his worms and is passionate about the care and feeding of worms and their immense value to gardeners. Participants will get an inside look into Allen’s worm bins, and learn the do’s and dont’s of building one at home. Instructor: Parleir is coordinator of Closer To Earth and co-founder of CommonWealth. $10/ person or $15 for a pair.
Herbal Teas: 10 a.m. Oct. 16, Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36. Cost: $5. Monica Arndt, a member of the Oklahoma Gardeners Association, will present the free program. Attendees will blend teas to take home. Register at the Will Rogers Gardens page at okc.gov.
