Lockett wants to stay on the down low

-

Tyler Lockett would have preferred to be anywhere else, rather than standing at the front of an auditorium talking about himself, the numbers he's put up through the first two weeks of the NFL regular season.

The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and former Tulsa Washington High School standout seems to prefer the feeling of being somewhat underappreciated even as he continues to put up huge numbers.

“The only thing that's different is like everybody's trying to start talking about me,” Lockett said. “I just want to kind of chill and not be in front of the camera. I just want to kind of do me.”

Lockett has 278 yards receiving and three touchdowns through the first two games. He is second in the league in yards — the top three are Deebo Samuel, Lockett and Cooper Kupp, all from the NFC West — and tied for second in TD catches.

GIANTS: New York Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates remains in a Virginia hospital and has more procedures to come after fracturing his leg Thursday night against Washington. Coach Joe Judge wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of it being a career-ending injury, but he seemed hopeful that that wasn't going to be the case.

BROWNS: Odell Beckham Jr.'s comeback is down to days, but the Cleveland Browns star wide receiver didn't commit to playing Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Beckham hasn't played since suffering a season-ending knee injury last October in Cincinnati, prematurely ending his third season with the Browns.

LIONS: Detroit is moving aggressively forward in its efforts to trade linebacker Jamie Collins, who appears to have played his last game with the Lions. Coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that Collins will be away from the team while trade talks are ongoing and he hopes a deal is in place "sooner rather than later."
