MOORE - Rev. Melba Catherine Guice Spears slipped peacefully away to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at her home in Moore, Oklahoma.

Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on September 8, 1938 to Pearl Marie and Clayburn Price Smith, she was one of nine children.

Melba dedicated her life to the Lord, she was a proud member of Highway of Holiness Full Gospel Church in Oklahoma City for 31 yrs, and an ordained minister for 27 yrs.

She loved to serve the Lord, her church, and community.

Melba worked for Cook Dairy in historic downtown OKC for 20 years. She then worked for the family business, Busy Bee Exterminat­ors before retiring in May of 2000. She enjoyed retired life on her farm which was proudly named “Gods 20 acres”, in Chandler, Oklahoma where she lived for 21 years before moving to Moore, Ok.

She loved Thunder OKC basketball, she was a loyal fan and loved when the season would start so she could watch her beloved team play.

She was a loving and caring person to all who met her. She always had a prayer, hug, hand, or shoulder ready for you. It was recently said “She is just so loveable! Her hugs and sweet handshakes as she was rubbing your hand and smiling, you knew she was praying for you” - That was her.

She was a proud and loving mother to 8 children, a grandmothe­r to 17 grandchild­ren, 34 great-grandchild­ren, and 12 great great grandchild­ren. She also had 14 Step-Children, 25 Step-Grandchild­ren. And Bonus neighbor children. She loved ALL equally and unconditio­nally.

She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Son: James Earl Cook. Daughters: Melba Jean Montgomery and Katherine Marie Ketchum. Son in Law: Donald May. Step-Son Justin Guice. Grandchild­ren: Baby Cavazos & Baby Coleman. Great-grandchild­ren: Jennifer Luna & Jesus Cardoza. Great-great grandchild­ren: Sostenes Esteban & Michael Jim. Brothers: Leon Pulis, James Smith, Robert Smith, Frank Smith. Sisters: Leona Hendzel and Imogene Henzel.

She is survived by her daughter Tonia Kay Coleman-Cavazos (husband Richard) of OKC, OK. Son Jeffrey Lynn Coleman (wife Kristi) of Moore, OK. Daughter Ollie May of Van Alstyne, TX. Son William Montgomery (wife Dawn) of Anna, TX. Mary Ramon (husband David) of Chandler, OK. Daughter-in-law Beckie Cook of Durrant, OK. Son-in-law John Ketchum of Tecumseh, OK.

Grandchild­ren: Mandy, Brandy, Crystal, Jessica, Chasity, John, Dakota, Jordan, Amy, Mistie, Stacy, Amanda, Robert, Michael, Bradley, David, Tonya. Lots of Great & Great-great Grandchild­ren.

Brothers: Richard Smith of OKC, OK. & Rev. John Steiger of OKC, OK. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Melba will be Friday October 22, 2021 4-8 pm at Bill Eisenhour @ 5005 SE 29TH Del City, OK

Services will be Saturday October 23, 2021, 2:00pm with Reverend John & Naomi Steiger officiatin­g at New Beginning Worship Center @ 1200 SW 44TH ST OKC, OK

With burial at Chapel Hill Cemetary @ 8701 Northwest Expressway OKC, OK
