Dorothy Van Nest

Dorothy Faye Hicklin Van Nest 95, a native of Dill City, Oklahoma went to be with her heavenly father on April 11, 2022 in Oklahoma City.

She was born July 24, 1926 and grew up in the Dill City area. She met the love of her life JD Van Nest, while attending the Dill Church of Christ and they were married on October 24, 1943. They were blessed with 5 children.

She was a homemaker and loved to spend her time with her family. She also loved the lake and fishing and you could always find her and her family at Lake Eufaula. In addition, she was an avid card player and loved sports being a fan of baseball, football, and Thunder basketball. She was a member of Shields and South Walker Christ of Christ. She was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmothe­r, and great grandmothe­r and great, great grandmothe­r.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, her parents T.I. and Stella Hicklin, her sisters Helen, Eula May, her brother Hurlon and daughter Marilyn Roselius. She leaves behind her loving family: three sons, Gary D. Van Nest and wife Jeannie, Darrell G. Van Nest and wife Pat and Kenneth D. Van Nest and wife Sheryl; one daughter Carolyn Gotte; 14 grandchild­ren, 21 great grandchild­ren and 7 great-great grandchild­ren.

The family would like to thank Meadowlake Estates Nursing home, Encompass Health (hospice), and Mercy Rehabilita­tion for their excellent care and compassion shown to Dorothy. Dorothy’s funeral will be held at South Walker Church of Christ, 5217 S Walker, Okla City on April 14, 2022 at 11 am.
