Editor's note: This year's OKC Metro High School Sports Awards will feature an overall All-City team for each sport at the season-ending award show.
Jack Starrett, Edmond North
Class: Freshman
Event: 50-yard freestyle The story: He was one of the top swimmers for the Huskies, who placed second at the Class 6A state meet. Starrett was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (21.96 seconds) and placed fourth in the 100 butterfly (52.04).
Riley Conway, Edmond North
Class: Freshman
Event: 100 freestyle
The story: Conway had a pair of great performances in his individual events at the Class 6A state meet, placing fifth in the 100 freestyle (49.15) and third in the 50 freestyle (21.99).
Swimmer of the Year finalist: Gustavo Barreira, Deer Creek
Class: Senior
Event: 100 butterfly
The story: An exchange student from Brazil, Barreira made his presence known in his lone Oklahoma high school swimming season. He placed second in the 100 butterfly (51.52) and 100 breaststroke (59.58) at the Class 6A state meet.
Garrett Levendofsky, Edmond North
Class: Freshman
Event: 100 backstroke The story: Another standout freshman from Edmond North, Levendofsky placed fifth in the 100 backstroke (55.78) and third in the 200 individual medley (1:59.94) at the Class 6A state meet.
Swimmer of the Year finalist: Owen Flynn, Heritage Hall
Class: Senior
Event: 100 breaststroke The story: He placed second in the 100 breaststroke (59.02) and won his fourth title in the 200 individual medley (1:58.62) at the Class 5A state meet.
Andrew Burgess, Edmond Memorial
Class: Sophomore Event: 200 freestyle The story: He placed third in both the 200 freestyle (1:47.01) and 500 freestyle (4:48.98) at the Class 6A state
Aiden Walswick, Mustang
Class: Senior
Event: 200 individual medley
The story: He had a strong day at the Class 6A state meet, placing eighth in the 200 individual medley (2:03.96) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:00.72).
Swimmer of the Year finalist: Ryan Healy, Edmond North
Class: Junior
Event: 500 freestyle The story: Healy, the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Boys Swimmer of the Year, won Class 6A state titles in the 500 freestyle (4:30.68) and 200 individual medley (1:49.90). He was within a second of breaking state records in both events.
Coach of the Year: Heather Devoe, Edmond Public Schools
The story: Devoe’s best team this year was Edmond North. The Huskies had a stellar season and placed second at the Class 6A state meet.
