Anna “Nita” Rapier
OKLAHOMA CITY - Anna Juanita “Nita” Rapier, 98, went to be with her Lord on April 16, 2022. Nita was born July 26, 1923 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to George and Johanna (Kasper) Mittasch. As a young girl Nita enjoyed playing with her older brother George and helping take care of her younger brothers and especially her little sister, Margaret. She also loved getting together with neighboring kids on Sunday afternoons. Nita married A.L. Scott and together raised 3 children. She was always very proud of them. Some of Nita’s favorite moments in life were spent spoiling her grandchildren and enjoying conversations on the phone with her daughters. She received many achievements like Queen of Adoram Temple #95 and Grand Marshal of Grand Chapter of Oklahoma in 1989. Playing golf and reading were some of her many hobbies she enjoyed. After A.L’s passing, she married T.E. Rapier in 1978 and together traveled extensively around the world in cruises. They loved each other until his passing in 2006. In 2009, Nita reacquainted with Denton Payne and later married in 2012. They lived a happy time together until his passing. She loved and served her Lord in many ways like delivering mobile meals at May Avenue United Methodist Church for some time and it brought joy to her heart. Nita was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church who was greatly loved. She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her husbands, A. L. Scott, T.E. Rapier and Denton Payne; son, Lonnie F. Scott; parents, George and Johanna Mittasch; and brothers, George Mittasch Jr, Victor John Mittasch, & Herbert Hans Mittasch. Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary A. Scott-Standerfer, daughter, Jeanne M. Scott-Awtrey and her husband Jim; grandchildren, Lise D. Standerfer-Brown, Jena K. Awtrey-Brown, Julie K. Awtrey-South, Brian Standerfer, Justin L. Awtrey, and Joel V. Scott; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 19th from 4-8 at the funeral home. Services to honor her life will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, April 20th at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel (13125 N. MacArthur Blvd) with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to either of your choice, ALS Association, India Shine Children’s Hospital Transportation Fund or Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma.
