Linda Lou Nickles, cherished wife, mother, grandma and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022, at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was 72 years old.

A Celebratio­n of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA, preceded by a visitation at 12:00 pm. The graveside committal service will be held at 2:15 pm at Fairfax Memorial Park. Father Jack Peterson, Youth Apostles Director of Mission and Advancemen­t, will preside at the service.

Linda was born on September 29, 1949, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Fenton and Jo Ellen (House) Morrison. She was a 1967 graduate of Ponca City High School. Linda married her high school sweetheart, Don Nickles, on September 5, 1968, in Ponca City. The couple made their first home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, while attending Oklahoma State University.

Linda and Don moved to the Washington, D.C., area when Don was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980. Linda was a devout Christian and active in community service including volunteeri­ng with the Red Cross, participat­ing in the Senate Spouses club and serving as the Chairman of the Lombardi Cancer Gala. She was a loving and dedicated mother involved in her children’s schools and activities throughout their childhoods.

Linda enjoyed annual family trips to the Outer Banks, traveling with Don and friends, sleepovers with grandkids, walks on the beach in Naples, solving crosswords and reading. She will be remembered for her deep love of family and her thoughtful­ness, always making small moments special and celebratin­g life’s joys with laughter and dancing.

Linda is survived by her husband, Don; her son Don Nickles II and wife Jeanne of Great Falls, Virginia; daughter Jennifer Rossiter and husband Paul of Sterling, Virginia; daughter Kim Barry and husband Andrew of Sterling, Virginia; daughter Robyn Hensley and husband David of Winchester, Virginia; sister Teresa Crosson and husband Mike of Guthrie, Oklahoma; brother Steve Morrison and wife Lynda of Frisco, Texas; and twelve grandchild­ren, Lauren Nickles, Julianne Nickles, Nick Rossiter, Ben Rossiter, Amanda Nickles, Ella Rossiter, Drew Barry, Anna Hensley, Alexa Barry, Nora Hensley, Vivian Hensley and Erin Barry. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made in Linda’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Opportunit­y Center in Ponca City
