YUKON - Jean Elizabeth Scott, 91, died April 14, 2022 in Yukon, OK. Jean was born June 4, 1930 in Portage, WI to Alonso and Marion Farnham. Jean married Paul Scott on June 9, 1951 in Terra Haute, IN.

After raising her 4 children, Jean entered the workforce at Union Bank in Oklahoma City as a secretary, but in just a few short years she earned the position and title of vice president. She helped the bank become more “automated” long before computers were invented. She worked at Cornforth Associates Architectural firm as an assistant to the owner. She also worked at The Quilt Works in Oklahoma City. While there she and the other ladies quilted baby blankets that they would donate to the Infant Crisis Center. Over the years Jean and these wonderful women made and donated over 10,000 baby blankets. Jean was a very talented and creative woman, always striving to learn more and do more. She taught herself wood carving and origami. To this day the birthday, Christmas and Easter cards she made and sent to family and friends remain a treasure and a keepsake. Jean also loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and vegetables. She was a voracious reader, always working to improve her knowledge, whether it was Winston Churchill’s autobiography, The Physics of Everyday Life or Blink by Malcom Gladwell. She was known to quote Albert Einstein on occasion. She was a joy to talk with, being able to discuss deep philosophical issues, important current events, or who the Oklahoma State Cowboys were going to be playing the next weekend. At the age of 90, Jean learned sign language. She and several other women at Spanish Cove Retirement Village put on a performance “signing” the song Oh Holy Night for the Cove’s Christmas celebration. She was a member of Spanish Cove’s N2O group, “Not Too Old.” She and the other members met periodically with students from Oklahoma State University. Their goal was to discuss challenges faced by people as they age and to look for solutions. Jean was an incredible wife, mother and friend to so many and she will be missed deeply.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Paul and her sister, Patricia Farnham. Survivors include their 4 children, Barbara Scott and John Sonderegger, Michael Scott and wife Donna, David Scott and Dawn Wellborn and Steven Scott and wife Laura. Jean and Paul relished their 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
