Which OKC-area slowpitch teams can win the state championsh­ip?

With regionals nearly underway, here's a look at some of the best cityarea slowpitch softball teams that have a chance for a state championsh­ip.

Class 6A

Southmoore (23-4): The SaberCats are the No. 1 seed in Class 6A after another impressive season, and Brinly Maples and Taitum Bradshaw have led the way. Maples has batted .590 with 21 home runs and 62 RBI while Bradshaw has hit .674 with 13 home runs and 57 RBI.

Moore (19-6): The Lions advanced to the Class 6A state championsh­ip game last season and they haven't slowed down since. Heidi Noisey and Nichelle Marshall have been a big reason why. Noisey is hitting .708 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI, while Marshall is hitting .685 with four home runs and 23 RBI.

Choctaw (20-5): The Yellowjack­ets made a run to the state tournament last year and have kept their production going. Lily West and Bella Butler have been outstandin­g down the stretch. West is batting .659 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI while Butler is hitting .543 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI.

Class 5A

North Rock Creek (25-9): The Cougars are coming off a Class 5A state tournament appearance and they've battled their way to the top seed. Hannah Earlywine and Katie Larson have led the way. Earlywine is batting .594 with 20 home runs and 68 RBI, while Larson is hitting .697 with 16 home runs and 60 RBI.

Tecumseh (22-7): The Savages advanced to the Class 5A state tournament last season and are looking like a contender once again. So far, Katelyn Fleming and Serenity Jacoway have led the way. Fleming has a .586 batting average with 10 home runs and 41 RBI. Jacoway has a .547 batting average with seven home runs and 29 RBI.

Newcastle (21-14): The Racers have been led by Rylee Ross and Brooklyn Lyles, who've combined to make up for one-third of Newcastle's RBI total this season. Ross hit .580 with eight home runs and 57 RBI while also serving as the pitcher. Lyles hit .670 with 16 home runs and 69 RBI.

Class 4A

Washington (34-2): The Warriors are coming off of a state championsh­ip in fastpitch and a semifinal finish in slowpitch. And they've continued to be a powerhouse with Tinley Lucas and Maggie Place leading the way. Lucas is hitting .648 with 37 home runs and 111 RBI while Place is batting .675 with 35 home runs and 81 RBI.

Dale (30-6): The Pirates have won a string of slowpitch state championsh­ips in recent years and don't appear to be slowing down just yet. Maddie Conley and Sam Hartman have led the way. Conley has hit. .717 with 40 home runs and 93 RBI, while Hartman has batted .640 with 10 home runs and 48 RBI.

Class 3A

Minco (13-10): Minco is coming off a winning fastpitch season where the Bulldogs made the state tournament. Now, they're putting together another one with Tara Hoehner and Layne Reh leading the way. Hoehner is batting .769 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI, while Reh is hitting .527 with six home runs and 33 RBI.

Wayne (26-1): Wayne has nearly put together a perfect record this season and Aaliyah Fuentes and Kaylee Madden have been a big reason why. Fuentes hit .642 with 10 home runs and 60 RBI. Madden batted .594 with nine home runs and 51 RBI. And even though it's slowpitch, senior pitcher Shyleigh Mantooth has struck out 31 batters.
