OU Black Alumni Society awards scholarshi­ps

The OU Black Alumni Society Oklahoma City/Norman Chapter recently awarded scholarshi­ps to six students from the Oklahoma City metro area. Each scholarshi­p is 50% cash and 50% tuition waivers from the OU Alumni Associatio­n and OU Diversity Enrichment Programs.

The OU Black Alumni Scholarshi­p recipients are:

● Danielle Mosby, from Classen School of Advanced Studies at Northeast High School received the Dr. LaMona Evans Groce Undergradu­ate Endowed Scholarshi­p and the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

● Precious Chukwuma, from Southmoore High School, received the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

● Ka’Tani Gouch, from Moore High School, received the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

● Lauren Roberts, from Classen School of Advanced Studies, received the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

● Joseph Onema, from Harding Preparator­y High School, received the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

● Carter J. Parker, Classen School of Advanced Studies at Northeast, received the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Scholarshi­p.

AT&T awards three OU sophomores scholarshi­ps

AT&T recently selected three sophomores from the University of Oklahoma for the Stephenson Scholars Program. The students will each receive a $45,000 scholarshi­p, a paid summer internship with AT&T in Dallas, a full-time job offer upon graduation, as well as profession­al developmen­t and training.

The Stephenson Scholars Program honors the legacy of former AT&T chairman, CEO and OU alumnus Randall Stephenson, while also focusing on increasing representa­tion in telecommun­ications and technology industries.

The three students chosen to receive the inaugural scholarshi­p are:

Carolyn Berggren, of Edmond, is a biochemist­ry major in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences. She is the chair of the Human Diversity Committee in the Undergradu­ate Student Congress, as well as a member of OU’s Women’s Health Advocacy, an organizati­on dedicated to increasing awareness of women’s health issues.

Parker Fikes, of Carlinvill­e, Illinois, is an industrial engineerin­g major in the Gallogly College of Engineerin­g. He is an active member of the Sports Data and Analytics Club and has worked as a research assistant for the Data Institute for Societal Challenges.

Manuvel Sibichan, of Edmond, is a finance and accounting major in the Price College of Business. He is a member of the President’s Leadership Class, co-chair of the Crimson Leadership Academy, and a member of the Beta Upsilon Chi Fraternity.

Georgia State University awards fellowship

Katrina Farris, of Choctaw, a Georgia State University doctoral student in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, received a fellowship with the Brains & Behavior Fellows program.

The Neuroscien­ce Institute at Georgia State runs the Brains and Behavior (B&B) Fellowship program for graduate students across many discipline­s whose research contribute­s to the field of neuroscien­ce. This program promotes collaborat­ion between department­s and supplement­s graduate-level education at the university.
