Rose State College honors alumni

Rose State College hosted an awards banquet to honor distinguis­hed alumni who have made significan­t contributi­ons to the college and the local community. This year, two distinguis­hed alumni, Dr. Dean Fisher and John Primo, were inducted into the Rose State College Alumni Hall of Fame.

Fisher is a 1982 graduate and longtime former employee at Rose State. Fisher

He holds an associate degree in general studies, a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history and a doctorate in higher education leadership. Dr. Fisher is the current president of the College of Southern Idaho.

Primo is a 1987 graduate and continued to serve the college fulltime for 35 years until his retirement as vice president of informatio­n technology in 2022. Primo served 12 years in the Air Force Reserve as a noncommiss­ioned officer. In addition, Primo is the author of nine novels and establishe­d an endowed scholarshi­p with the Rose State College Foundation in name of his late wife, April Primo.

OSU-OKC STEM scholarshi­ps awarded

The OSU-OKC STEM Division has awarded more than $20,000 in scholarshi­ps to students in its programs for the 2022 fall semester.

Michael Ghanaati and Joe Adams, students from the Power Transmissi­on & Distributi­on Technology program, Surveying Technology, Constructi­on Technology and Architectu­re programs were awarded scholarshi­ps through funds administer­ed by the OSU Foundation. STEM division program enrollment scholarshi­ps allow students to focus on their education and graduate with industry-ready skills.

2022 Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Lifetime Achievemen­t Award

City of Norman Solid Waste Division Manager Bret Scovill will be recognized for his outstandin­g work in sanitation and recycling operations throughout the state of Oklahoma. Scovill will be named the 2022 Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Lifetime Achievemen­t Award winner.

Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is a nonprofit organizati­on and state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, working to empower citizens to help improve communitie­s through litter prevention, waste reduction and beautifica­tion. Scovill, who turns 70 in February, currently oversees 50 employees for six types of operations and said he has no plans of quitting any time soon. He is unwavering in his team’s responsibl­e stewardshi­p of taxpayer dollars and attests that they have exceptiona­lly rewarding jobs that allow them to make difference­s in the day-today lives of residents and business owners.
