Freedom Fest in Yukon seeks participan­ts

YUKON — Freedom Fest is looking for participan­ts for the children’s parade and the hot dog eating contest.

Spirited youngsters are invited to enter the annual Freedom Fest Children’s Parade 11 a.m. July 4 at the Yukon City Park, 2200 S Holly. Children are encouraged to wear patriotic costumes and boldly decorate their bikes, tricycles, wagons, pets or floats with a patriotic or other theme.

Registrati­on forms are available at the library, or you can register online at www.yukonok.gov/FreedomFes­t. Advance registrati­on closes at 5 p.m. July 3. Participan­ts also may register on-site beginning at 10 a.m. on July 4 north of City Splash pool.

Area residents are also invited to participat­e in the fourteenth annual Hot Dog Eating Contest, 11:30 a.m. July 4 at City Park. The winner will receive the coveted “TOP DOG” award.

Elm Tree concert presents Middle Sister

ARCADIA — The singer-songwriter duo known as Middle Sister will perform at 1 p.m. July 2 as part of the Elm Tree Concert Series at the Arcadia Round Barn, located six miles east of Interstate 35 on Route 66. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

Elm Tree Concerts are beneath the shade of the elm tree on the north side of the Round Barn. Admission is free, but donations are accepted for the maintenanc­e of the nonprofit museum. Guests can bring lawn chairs or sit at the picnic tables.

Fun and Games Duplicate Bridge Club, a not-forprofit organizati­on, is offering three special mini-bridge sessions for all ages 6 to 9 p.m. June 28, July 12 and July 26, located on the south end of NorthPark Mall, 11928 N May Ave.

Animal welfare volunteer award nominees sought

NORMAN — The Norman Animal Welfare Oversight Committee is now accepting nomination­s for the Norman Animal Welfare Volunteer of the Year Award.

To submit a nomination, prepare a one-page letter of recommenda­tion that highlights the nominee’s volunteer contributi­ons toward animal welfare and their connection­s to the Norman Animal Welfare Center. The deadline for submission­s is 5 p.m. July 31.

Edmond institute presents gallery opening

EDMOND — Edmond Fine Arts Institute’s July Gallery Opening, featuring up-and-coming artist Tanner Muse, is set for 5 to 8 p.m. July 6 at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, 27 E Edwards St. Muse is known for his innovative artwork capturing a unique contempora­ry Western style and artistic vision. Attendees will have the opportunit­y to engage with the artist, explore Muse’s artwork up close, and immerse themselves in a vibrant atmosphere of creativity and inspiratio­n.

Francis Tuttle gets EV donation

Bob Moore Auto Group has helped the next generation of service technician­s by donating an electric vehicle (EV) to Francis Tuttle Technology Center.

The vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Leaf, will be available to Automotive Service Technology students at Francis Tuttle’s Danforth Campus starting next school year. Students will get a firsthand look at how EVs operate, how they are maintained, and how they can be serviced to prepare for their future careers.

The Alternativ­e Energy Vehicle (AEV) training is offered at the Rockwell Campus to first responders for safety in the field, as well as municipal workers and other employees who perform maintenanc­e and repair work on electric vehicles.
