VIBES returns to downtown Edmond July 6
EDMOND — VIBES Edmond’s First Thursdays returns from 6 to 9 p.m. July 6, spreading creativity throughout 15 blocks of downtown Edmond.
This month features plein air painting, an art installation pop-up by local artist group Rock. Paper. Scissors., the high-flying feats of Scissortail Flying Co., performances by Blake Bricker at The Icehouse Project, Stan Carrier on the Kyle Dillingham Stage, Tyler Boren on the northeast corner of First Street and many more. VIBES also has activities for children and families.

Gallery opens First American exhibit next month
A new exhibit, “Our Inheritance,” will open on July 1 at Exhibit C Gallery at 1 E Sheridan Ave. in Bricktown. An opening reception is 4 to 5 p.m. July 8.
“Our Inheritance” celebrates the vital link between nature and First American culture with personal interpretations of landscapes by artists Brent Brander (Chickasaw), Alexandra Brodt (Choctaw), Peter Paul Bruno (Potawatomi), Topaz Jones McCoy (Western Shoshone) and Mateo Romero (Cochiti Pueblo).

The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition announces the return of the Oklahoma Curatorial Fellowship and is accepting applications through July 16.
The fellowship trains emerging curators by catalyzing long-term creative connections and advancing their art careers through mentorship, professional development and workshops.
With a strong focus on curatorial practice and writing, fellows will have the opportunity to showcase their skills through an exhibition at a prominent gallery space. The 10-month fellowship begins in October with public exhibition scheduled for fall 2024.

Band’s latest video screening to benefit nonprofit
TULSA — Cody Clinton and the April Fools’ latest single, “John the Barber,” is out on all streaming platforms. “John,” the song’s namesake, is a fictional character developed out of two real people who survived Tulsa’s 1921 Race Massacre: NL Netherlands, the owner of a successful barbershop, and jazz/rock pioneer, Hal Singer.
A lyrics video with photos, created by Mark Bennett, will screen at 6 p.m. July 7 at the nonprofit Center for Public Secrets, 573 S Peoria Ave. The band will also perform an acoustic version of the song. Paseo First Friday Gallery Walk to feature printmaking artists
The Paseo Arts Association is presenting two new exhibitions for July: “B.B and O.J’s Great Adventure” in Gallery I and “Print on Paseo” in Gallery II. An opening reception will be held during First Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. July 7 in the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center, 3024 Paseo. “B.B. and O.J’s Great Adventure” is a collection of artwork by printmaker Wesley Kramer in what he describes as a large, interactive comic book. “Print on Paseo,” an annual juried exhibition to showcase the versatility of printmaking, returns with 28 prints submitted by Oklahoma artists. EDMOND — Edmond Fine Arts Institute, 27 E Edwards St., is featuring Tanner Muse from 5 to 8 p.m. July 6 for its July Gallery Opening.
Muse, an emerging local artist, has captured the attention of art enthusiasts with his contemporary western style and artistic vision. With an impressive portfolio of acrylic work, he has garnered recognition within the local art community.

Allied Arts raises $3.6 million in 2023 campaign
Allied Arts announced at its recent Campaign Celebration that it raised $3,617,292 in support of central Oklahoma’s arts community through its 2023 fundraising efforts. Allied Arts campaign funds are distributed to more than 40 local nonprofit cultural organizations annually, providing the resources they need to reach underserved populations, and offer quality and affordable programming to the public.
Leading the donors were The Chickasaw Nation, Devon Energy, Hobby Lobby, The Kirkpatrick Family Fund and OG&E. They all made significant contributions of $100,000 or more.
Allied Arts also announced that central Oklahoma will receive nearly $3 million of the $10 million in State American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that went into law May 26.
