Operation Christmas Child starts collecting shoe box gifts
Local residents are collecting school supplies, personal care items and toys to pack in shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. These gift-filled shoe boxes will be delivered to children in more than 100 countries.
For many children, access to these simple items is essential to an education. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 209 million shoe boxes to children in more than 170 countries and territories.
National collection week is Nov. 13-20. Participants can donate $10 per shoe box gift online and receive a tracking label to discover its destination. Those who prefer online shopping can browse samaritanspurse.org/buildonline to select gifts matched to a child’s age and gender, then add a photo and personal note of encouragement.
