Christmas Craft Show set
NORMAN — The Cleveland County Fairgrounds will be hosting the 33th Annual Christmas Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at 615 E. Robinson St.
The craft show will have a wide variety market items from various vendors across the region. Some features available will be home decorating, handmade, seasonal and specialty items presented by over 90 crafters.

Eagle Scouts make a donation
EDMOND — A local Eagle Scout candidate, Alex Herron and his troop from Boy Scout Troop 386 initiated and completed a project that saw the planning, design, construction and installation of four ADA compliant picnic benches at the 1889 Territorial School.
Oklahoma Territory’s first, still standing educational building is being preserved by the Edmond Historic Preservation Trust. The existing picnic tables posed a danger to the guests and students of the schoolhouse.

Girl Scouts to host winter carnival
YUKON — Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma (GSWESTOK) will host a Winter Carnival and Sign-Up Event for parents of girls interested in joining a local Girl Scout Troop from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Canadian Valley Baptist Church,11500 SW 15.
Featured speaker will be Lynette Blevins, GSWESTOK membership specialist. The event also will feature a Snowflake Challenge. Girls will be able to unleash their creativity and engineering skills as they design and construct intricate snowflakes using the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM).
Girl Scouts is open to girls from kindergarten through 12th grade. Reservations are required to attend the event. Parents should text the word “Yukon” to 405442-0684 to reserve their place.

Cleveland County aids recovery programs
NORMAN — Cleveland County Commissioners designated $250,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support Firstep’s sober living programs.
Firstep Recovery Programs assist individuals struggling with substance abuse and functions as a sober living community that connects residents with outpatient services and licensed therapists with no financial burden on the resident or their family.
The funds awarded to Firstep will support improvements to the facility and open up the possibility of new programs for residents.
NORMAN — The city of Norman Parks and Recreation Department and the Norman Optimist Club announced the Inaugural Young Family Athletic Center (YFAC) youth basketball league through a community partnership.
The registration for the youth basketball league will be open until Dec. 15. The league is for boys and girls in pre-K through eighth grade.
Basketball games will be played primarily at the Young Family Athletic Center located at 2201 Trae Young Drive in Norman will include an 8-game season, both pre-season and post-season tournaments.
The YFAC league will start in mid-January and end by spring break. Every participant will receive a free Adidas YFAC jersey and shorts because of a donation through the Trae Young Family Foundation.

Sunbeam to hold virtual open interviews
Sunbeam Family Services will hold virtual open interviews between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 and is offering a sign-on incentive for some positions.
Sunbeam will hold interviews for full-time lead teachers, assistant teachers and family educator, home visitors. Participants must RSVP to attend.
