EDMOND - Kay Steinberge­r Troutman was born May 4th, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed away December 2, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Kay is survived by daughters Kathy Smith (Richard), Janet Halbert (David), and son John Troutman (Ana); grandchild­ren Jamie Soderstrom (Mark), Kerri McGeHee ( Scott), Amanda Lohrenz (Zac), Andrew Smith (Allie) and Stacey Troutman; great-grandchild­ren Drew, Sydney, George, Katie and Iris. Kay lived most of her childhood in Houston, Texas, with her parents Clinton Cheairs and Francis Terrell Steinberge­r. She was the youngest of 3 children; Jean DeLue and Calvin Steinberge­r having preceded her in death. She loved her family dearly and spent much of her childhood playing outdoors and participat­ing in sports. Kay attended The University of Oklahoma where her older brother was already a student. In her Sophomore year she met the love of her life, Benjamin Troutman. They married August 18, 1951, while still in school and were married for 68 years. Kay graduated in 1952 with a degree in business. Ben and Kay moved many times with his job as a landman for Conoco Oil Company, living in Texas, Mississipp­i, Louisiana and Oklahoma. While living in Houston, Texas, in 1979 and attending a Bible Study with her sister, Kay accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. When Ben and Kay retired, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where Kay was involved in many ministries and had deep fellowship and friendship­s with some of her life’s greatest friends. She and Ben traveled extensivel­y throughout the world before making the decision to move back to Oklahoma City to be closer to family. Kay was known as Mama Kay to her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren and leaves a legacy of love of God and Christian service to all whom have known and loved her. She loved studying the Bible and had a deep, active prayer life. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Traditions Hospice and Stone Creek Assisted Living.
