Foundation awards $4.1M to students
Oklahoma City Community Foundation set a record for the number of students and scholarship awards for the 2023-24 academic year through the state’s largest independent scholarship program. In total, more than $4.1 million in scholarships went to more than 930 students. Graduating seniors and adult learners can apply for scholarships for the upcoming year. Cherokee Nation pledges $60K to United Way
TULSA — Cherokee Nation and its businesses recently contributed $60,000 to the Tulsa Area United Way to support its yearlong fundraising campaign. The tribe has supported the nonprofit’s efforts since 2013. The agency serves thousands of individuals through more than 160 programs throughout Tulsa, Creek, Rogers, Okmulgee, Osage and Wagoner counties. For more information, go to tauw.org.
Girl Scouts camp earns accreditation
MARLOW — Camp E-Ko-Wah recently received American Camp Association Accredited status for the 2024 season. The accreditation means that Camp E-Ko-Wah had a thorough review of its operation and complied with the highest standards in the industry. The camp is in operation throughout the year and offers summer sessions including one-day camps and overnight camps lasting up to six days per session. Paycom employees raise $125K for Salvation Army
Paycom Software Inc. recently donated $125,000 to The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma and The Salvation Army of North Texas. Paycom’s gifts will provide coats to keep Oklahomans and Texans warm, fund the clientchoice food pantry and contribute to the Red Kettle campaign.

TLC Garden Centers donate $54,560 to cancer center
TLC Garden Centers’ fourth annual “Plant it Pink” event raised $54,560 for OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center. TLC Garden Centers has donated a total of $177,589 to the cancer center and its work since the event began in 2020.

Habitat for Humanity gets $2M grant
The Oklahoma Water Resources Board recently announced that Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity will receive $2 million from the Oklahoma American Rescue Plan Act grant program to help fund the development of Habitat’s newest housing neighborhood, Cornerstone Creek.
The development will include 450 affordable and energy-efficient homes on 160 acres at NW 150 and Morgan Road in far northwest Oklahoma City. Building is planned to begin by late January.

Families receive help through Francis Tuttle Giving Tree
The Francis Tuttle Reno Campus hosted a Giving Tree and a food drive to help families in need. Thanks to the toys, clothing items and food boxes donated, 14 families in the community received assistance to help make their season brighter.
