2 accidents leave 6 hurt
Bad weather led to two serious accidents Saturday. Six people were transported to area hospitals, with on 7- yearold girl in serious condition.
The first accident occurred on State Route 46 near the intersection of Lynch Road in Eaton. Police say Louise Seaton lost control of her northbound vehicle and slid into the southbound lane, striking a jeep operated by James Hubbard of Norwich. Hubbard’s vehicle was overturned. Extrication was required to free Hubbard’s wife, Deborah, from the vehicle.
All three were transported to St. Elizabeth’s in Utica with non- life threatening injuries. Morrisville Fire Department, Munnsville Fire Department, SOMAC, Madison Ambulances and the NYS Police responded and assisted the scene.
The second accident occurred around 1 p. m. at the intersection of River Road and Chamberlain Road in Lebanon. A vehicle operated by Courtney L. Mills, 30, of Sherburne was headed north on River Road when police say Mills lost control of the vehicle and entered
the southbound lane due to poor road conditions.
Minnie H. Hook, 34, of Lebanon struck Mills’ vehicle on the passenger side, were Mills’ 7- year- old niece Abigail Seaton was seated.
Abigail was in critical condition at the scene and required an air ambulance; weather conditions prohibited flight. She was rushed to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse with multiple internal injuries. As of Saturday night, she was upgraded to serious condition.
Miles and Hook were transported to Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton with several non- life threatening injuries. Mills was ticketed for failure to keep right. Eaton Fire Department, Hamilton Fire Department, Morrisville Fire Department, Somac, Eaton and Sherburne Ambulances and Hamilton Police assisted the scene.
