MORRISVILL­E>> Dorothy E. Thayer, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Hamilton’s Community Memorial Hospital, while her loving family was at her side.

She was born in Oneida on Oct. 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Robert and Violet Mason Shaver. In Homer, on Nov. 22, 1945, she married William E. Thayer Sr. Their loving union lasted 25 years until William’s passing in 1970. Dorothy worked the family dairy farm the majority of her life. In her retirement she had worked at the Morrisvill­e College Dining Hall. Dorothy will be missed deeply by all and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and aunt.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Veronica and Terry Ferguson, of Morrisvill­e, Linda Thayer, of Hamilton, William and Marlene Thayer, of Morrisvill­e, Debra and Kevin Ketcham, of Mor- risville; daughter-in-law Katrina Thayer, of Morrisvill­e; her sister Evelyn Thurston, of Munnsville; her extended family, Ione Phillips, of Hubbardsvi­lle, Annette and Richard Stith, of Riverview, Fla., Richard Phillips, also of Riverview, Fla., Steve and Irene Phillips, of Lakeland, Fla.; Jobie Phillips, of Cincinnatu­s, N.Y.; 26 grandchild­ren; 40 greatgrand­children; three great-great grandchild­ren, with one more greatgrand­child to arrive soon.

Dorothy was predecease­d by her husband William Sr., her son, Earl, and a grandson, Joshua Thayer.

There will be a celebratio­n of Dorothy’s life to be held on Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Community Bible Church, Brooklyn Street, Eaton, with a reception to follow the service. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the care and guidance of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
