UTICA >> Curtis Pearsall has been named the new president of the Stanley Theatre board of directors as of Jan. 1.

Pearsall, a 40-year resident of the Mohawk Valley, is president and founder of Pearsall Associates Inc., a risk management-consulting firm based in Utica. He has served on area boards, including holding the presidency for the local United Way and Boy Scouts of America.

“The Stanley is a great source of pride, entertainm­ent and economic developmen­t for our community, but it’s also a business,” Pearsall said. “We need to continue the financial success the theater achieved in 2014 and do a better job of developing local business, municipal and county support re- quired for all thriving public theaters.”

In addition to Pearsall, Maria Alberico Brindisi and John Savage have also joined the board of directors.

Brindisi, after a 25-year career with General Motors, has served as the assistant to former Utica Mayor David Roefaro and as the regional direc- tor for Special Olympics of New York Central Region. Brindisi is a member of the board of Utica Field Hockey Officials, having been a referee for 30 years. She also serves on the board at The Abraham House. Brindisi is married to Louis T. Brindisi, Sr. and resides in Utica.

Savage is the director of the Retirement Plan Division of Ascent Wealth Partners, LLC, an SEC registered financial services firm with offices in Utica, Saratoga Springs and Elmira. Savage, a practicing CPA since June 1989, lives with his wife, Debbie in Waterville. He received his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the State University of New York College of Technology in Utica.
