ONEIDA>> Paul A. Jones, 87, formerly of 1986 West Road, Oneida, died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, in the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility where he had been a resident since May 5, 2014.

Paul was born on July 10, 1928, in Utica, the son of Edward L. and Dorothy Amidon Jones. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Sherrill High School in 1946, St. Bonaventur­e University in 1951 and Morrisvill­e Tech in 1957.

He proudly served with the US Army in Germany from Nov. 19, 1952 until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 27, 1954.

On March 26, 1951, he married Jeanne A. McMahon in St. Helena’s Church, Sherrill. Mrs. Jones died on July 21, 1994.

For 30 years, Paul was employed with the US Postal Service in the Sherrill Post Office, retiring in 1988.

Paul was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Oneida.

He was the Dairy Goat Superinten­dent at the New York State Fair for 24 years and worked at the Poultry Barn for 11 years. He was a lifetime member of the Finger Lakes Feather Club and the American Poultry Associatio­n. He raised and showed Old English Game fowl for many years.

Surviving are his children, Mary Kathleen (William) Doran of Oneida, Andrew (Patricia) Jones of Endwell, Patricia (Richard) Brown of Cazenovia, Julia (Kenneth) Watts, Roseville, Calif., James (Teresa) Jones of Canastota, Bronwen Femath of San Antonio, Texas, Daniel Jones of Oneida, Eileen (Pat- rick) Gaffney of Whitesboro and David (Kimberly) Jones of Oneida; one sister, Carol Reardon of Oneida and a brother-in-law, Robert McMahon of Tennessee.

He is also survived by his grandchild­ren, Melissa Aumell, Christophe­r Doran, Jennifer Neuzil, Eric Watts, Daniel Watts, Emily Jones, Kelly Jones, Kevin Jones, Robert Jones, Brian Jones, Megan Jones, Tristan Jones, Michael Femath, Stephen Femath, Jacob Jones, Olivia Jones, William Jones, McKenna Jones, John Jones and Sean Gaffney; his great-grandchild­ren, Ethan Neuzil, Gabriel Neuzil, Brett Neuzil, Ryan Aumell, Nicole Aumell, Holden Aumell, Claire Jones, Charlotte Jones, and Max Strohl, and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, and a daughter, Megan Jones.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, in St. Patrick’s Church, 347 Main St., Oneida, by the Rev. Richard J. Kapral.

Interment with Military Honors will be made in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Oneida. Calling hours will be held privately at the convenienc­e of the family.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to St. Patrick’s School. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida, N.Y. 13421.
