Cuomo generous with other people’s money

A headline in Sunday’s Dispatch read, “Cuomo brings $62M to region.”

Where did he get this money? Is this a gift to the region or do we have to pay it back to him?

It is pretty generous if it was his money. If it was our money, isn’t he merely returning it to the source minus a healthy handling fee plus expenses? — J. Ronald Stratton, Oneida

Schiebel for Oneida County legislator

I am writing this letter to lend my complete support to Keith Schiebel, Republican and Conservative candidate for Oneida County legislator in this November’s election.

Keith and I have known each other for over 30 years, both as colleagues in the VVS School District, and in the political arena in my role as deputy town supervisor in the Town of Vernon. He has always shown a keen interest and desire to help me and learn as much as he possibly could about the world of politics to eventually lead him to his pursuit of the Oneida County legislator’s office.

Keith has the incredible ability to “take the ball and run with it” in whatever endeavor he undertakes. I have observed him build the VVS FFA program from the bottom up and he has done this in an ambitious, organized, devoted, and dedicated fashion. He is driven to succeed in every program or venture he pursues. He is a master at the difficult art of multitasking.

This program under Keith’s leadership has risen to be ranked unquestionably as one of the No. 1 FFA programs in the state of New York. His program has been awarded that distinction.

His leadership in the area of the maple syrup field is legendary. He has created and opened an FFA store within the VVS high school common area. He annually hosts one of the Northeast’s largest weekend maple conferences at his complex at VVS. He has established a presence every year at the NYS Fair. His uncanny ability to seek and receive grants for equipment, machinery and vehicles is second to none.

I strongly believe that all of the important, driven and ambitious qualities and characteristics that Keith Schiebel demonstrates would segue into the Oneida County legislature’s arena perfectly.

I absolutely and with complete confidence give my highest recommendation to Keith Schiebel in his efforts to become our next Oneida County legislator. — Gene Bennati, Town of Vernon

Cerio for Judge

I was so pleased to hear that Marian Cerio is running for Madison County Court Judge and whole heartedly support her candidacy. I have known Marian for many years. She has handled legal matters for me during those years and I have been thoroughly pleased with the outcome of these matters.

Through our client-attorney relationship over the years, I have come to know Marian on a personal level and am very confident in her abilities. She is a fair minded individual and I have always found her to be just and fair. I know that she has represented many, many children in her more than 30 years of practice as a children’s advocate in Family Court and has, I feel, the insight and demeanor to do a wonderful job as family and county court judge.

While I know Madison County would gain an experienced, knowledgeable judge, I selfishly am saddened knowing that I may be losing a great attorney. — John Carrier, Oneida
