Police on lookout for burglary suspect

SULLIVAN >> The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s aid in finding a suspect in a home robbery.

Police say a man broke into a Ridge Road home in Sullivan on Tuesday and stole several thousands in cash, jewelry, and credit cards. At least one of the credit cards was used at the Walmart in East Syracuse and then again at a Nice-N-Easy Grocery Shop on Route 92 in Manlius.

The man was seen riding a motorcycle from one of the locations. Authoritie­s are asking anyone who was in the Ridge Road area and may have witnessed suspicious activity to contact their Sheriff’s Investigat­ors Confidenti­al Tip Line at 315- 366-2429. Citizens can also call 315-366-2311 and ask to speak with Criminal Investigat­ions Supervisor Julie Netzband or Investigat­or Stephen Sellin. Tips can also be submitted online by visiting the Sheriff’s website atwww. madisoncou­ntysheriff.us.

Sheriff Allen Riley is imploring the public to remain viligant regarding this issue, while also stressing the importance of securing homes and businesses at all times. Suggestion­s include: locking doors and windows; arming security systems; using a safety deposit box; and locking outdoor equipment in a secure building, such as a shed or garage.

If citizens are leaving their homes for an extended period of time and are worried about security, they can contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office online and select the link titled “Property Check Request”; deputies will then perform prop- erty checks during the homeowner’s absence. “Trust your feeling,” said Riley. “If you see any suspicious activity, report it to your local law enforcemen­t agency immediatel­y by dialing 911.”
