Gordon W. Voelker, 92, of Oneida
ONEIDA >> Gordon W. Voelker, 92, of Cleveland Avenue, passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 28, 2016, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where he had been a patient for the past three days.
Born in Oneida on Nov. 4, 1923, he was the son of Wilbert C. and Hazel Winters Voelker. A lifelong resident of Oneida, Gordon was a graduate of Oneida High School and completed his appren- ticeship in design. He married Phyllis Davis on Jan. 31, 1946 in Oneida.
Prior to his retirement with 35 years of service, Mr. Voelker was employed by Oneida Limited Silversmiths as a designer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre.
Gordon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oneida and a member of the Oneida Rifle Club, The National Rifle Association and was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 2. He was also active with the ham radio club.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Phyllis; one daughter, Joyce M. Voelker of Verona; two sons and one daughterin-law, Gary C. and Barbara Voelker of Durhamville and Lee M. Voelker of Englewood, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Campbell-- Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Stuart Wattles, officiating. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
