Congressional candidates debate
Claudia Tenney, Kim Myers and Martin Babinec’s debate at Colgate will air again today at 11a.m.
Time Warner Cable News hosted a debate for the 22nd Congressional District Thursday night.
The debate, before a live audience at Memorial Chapel on the campus of Colgate University, featured candidates Claudia Tenney, Kim Myers and Martin Babinec.
The debate aired on TWC News 10 Now and will replay on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 11 am, and it will be available for viewing anytime at twcnews.com.
Tenney, a Republican, said a wall or a “virtual wall” is needed to secure the U.S. borders with both Mexico and Canada.
Myers, a Democrat , stressed the need for government to invest in clean energy in an effort to fight climate change.
Babinec, an independent, noted that special interests have spent millions on advertising to discredit him and he hasn’t gotten a dime in outside funding.
Tenney is a graduate of Colgate University and the Taft College of Law in Cincinnati. She is a practicing lawyer, small busi- ness owner and publisher who established the Tenney media group of weekly newspapers. She is known as a strong conservative voice and opponent of the Oneida Indian Nation.
Myers is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and the married mother of six children. She served for 18 years on the Vestal school board, eight years as president. The daughter of the founder of Dick’s Sporting Goods Stores, she helped establish the family business and had her own children’s clothing and toy store.
A graduate of Shippenburg University, In Shippensburg. Pa. Babinec drew on his experience as a civilian human re- source manager for the U. S. Navy to establish TriNet, a cloud-based human resources company serving 10,000 small and mid-sized businesses. Returned home from Silicon Valley to raise a family, he promoted job creation through investing in and assisting Upstate start-ups.
