Myers the best choice

Claudia Tenney is not the person we need in Congress. She unabashedly supports Donald Trump! That alone is potentially disastrous, not just because Trump promotes selective bigotry and divisiveness, but because he stands for devastatingly negative outcomes for this nation and the world. For example, he advocates the substantial increase of our nuclear weapons stockpile which will result in an escalated arms race. He plans to continue the failed “trickle-down” policies of enriching the wealthy with tax breaks and loopholes. Moreover, he seeks to undermine or destroy every single social contract program run by government, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, and the Affordable Care Act.

We should expect no less from his devoted follower, Claudia Tenney, whose NAY votes on key issues in the NY Assembly have clearly shown her devotion to Trump’s agenda. She voted ‘NO’ on: Requiring Employers to Provide Paid Family Leave; on Increasing the Minimum Wage; on requiring Equal Pay for Women; and, on establishing a two-year moratorium on ‘fracking.’

In her TV ads and official website, Tenney indicates that she intends to go to Washington to ’oppose,’ ’fight against,’ and ’expose’ political failings. If she spends all her time fighting everyone, she will not be able to produce meaningful bipartisan legislation that could result in substantial benefits for her constituents. It takes much time and effort to build the trust necessary for on-going bipartisan alliances. Tenney’s legislative record in Albany indicates minimal participation in substantive bipartisan bills signed into law.

With her Trump-like contentiousness, Tenney will also undermine fundamental changes favored by a large majority of American citizens that need to be legislated through bipartisan effort.

For example: putting people to work by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, providing an income tax break for middle income earners, and instituting common sense measures like universal background checks to reduce gun violence.

Let’s send someone to Congress who won’t let political ideology prevent bipartisan cooperation; someone who is not a professional politician but a concerned citizen and mother who became totally involved in her local school board, worked to start-up both a large and a small business, and who won a seat in her county legislature because she wanted to serve her community and to make life better for her neighbors.

Vote for Kim Myers for Congress! She is the only candidate who will represent your interests!
