SYLVANBEAC­H>> Ellis R. “Duke” Smith, 73, Waterview Drive, died early Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2016, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, shortly after his admission from the Extended Care Facility.

Born in Canastota, on Aug. 30, 1943, he was the son of Noah and Mildred De Vaul Smith. A resident of Sylvan Beach for the past thirty years, Duke was educated in Canastota schools. He married Donna Patsy in St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida, on Sept. 4, 1965.

Prior to his retirement, Duke was employed with the Oneida Limited, Silversmit­hs, with over forty years of service. He was a member of the Camden Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the National Rifle Associatio­n. With so much success, Duke had a great love for hunting and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife, Donna, are his two daughters, Camille Waldron and her fiancé, Vince Herrmann of Verona and Kelly Smith of Geneva; his three grandchild­ren, Zachary and Sarah Waldron and Jonah Smith-Mirisoloff; his two sisters, Barbara Splain of Canadaigua and Joan Vanderhoff of Canastota; and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by a grandchild, Santo Smith-Mirisoloff; two brothers, Elmer and Gerald Smith and a sister, Helen Mc Allister.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Reverend Richard Kapral, officiatin­g. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Contributi­ons may be made to Parkinson Disease Support Group, 1359 Broadway #1509, New York, N.Y. 10018.
