CAZENOVIA >> Administrators from Cazenovia College and the Cazenovia Central School District recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to offer the school district’s secondary school students several opportunities to engage with the college.

Matt Reilly, Cazenovia Central School District superintendent, called agreement “a great opportunity for (students) to plant deep roots and expand their educational opportunities.”

Key elements of the Memorandum of Understanding include the following:

• The college will offer Cazenovia High School students the opportunity to register for one course at the start of each fall or spring termfor a fee of $100 per course plus any applicable course fees. The students will have access to Cazenovia College courses on a space-available basis and must meet any and all prerequisites for each course. The students will be able to register for a course one week before the start of classes at the college.

• The college’s Admissions Office will conduct two on- site admissions processing days at Cazenovia High School—one for seniors in October and one in May for juniors— for the purpose of affording students the opportunity to complete the application process, meet with Cazenovia College Admissions staff, and receive an admissions decision at the conclusion of their meeting. All students have until May 1 of their senior year to submit their enrollment deposit.

• Eligible Cazenovia High School students will qualify for consideration to receive the top Cazenovia College merit scholarship based on the criteria of being ranked in the top 10 percent of their class and submitting score results of the SAT (1250+ combined Critical Reading and Math) or the ACT (28+ Composite).

“In our ongoing efforts to foster partnerships with the community, we are pleased to make Cazenovia College courses available to Cazenovia high school students at an affordable price,” said Ron Chesbrough, Cazenovia College president. “The added opportunities of early, nonbinding admission and immediate eligibility of top students for the institution’s most generous merit scholarship will place Cazenovia College in the forefront of these stu- dents’ decisions about their plans for college,” he added.
