LITTLE FALLS >> Riva Powers and Matthew Ambler were united in marriage on Oct. 29, 2016, in Little Falls, N.Y. The bride is the daughter of Bobbie and Patrick Powers of Canastota, N.Y. The groom is the son of Viki Ambler of East Syracuse, N.Y. and William Ambler of Henderson, N.Y. and the grandson of Frances Haberlen of Dewitt, N.Y.
All festivities took place in Little Falls. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Beardslee Castle. The ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Unitarian Universalist Church and was officiated by the groom’s mother. An original reading was performed by the bride’s uncle, Tom Jowers of Atlanta, Ga. Reception followed at Beardslee Castle.
Jacqueline Tribou of Thomaston, Conn. and the groom’s brother, Adam Cowen, of Syracuse, N.Y. served as maid of honor and best man. The bride’s brother, Patrick Powers, of Scotch Plains, N.J. was also included in the lavish wedding party. The bride’s second cousin, Leah McCumber of Florence, S.C. served as the flower girl. The celebration hosted friends and family from New York, South Dakota, Rhode Island, Georgia, South Carolina, New Mexico, New Jersey, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio and other locations.
The celebration was enveloped in an elegant Halloween theme. Guests were treated to a candy bar, warm apple cider, and danced to the Monster Mash. Willow tree branches, candlelight, purple orchids, green chrysanthemums and orange Gerber daises surrounded.
The ceremony and reception were attended by the bride’s late grandfather, Joseph Testa, who passed on Dec. 1, 2016.
The bride is a senior designer at ChaseDesign, LLC in Skaneateles, N.Y. The groom is a fiction writer. They honeymooned in Las Vegas, Nev. following the wedding. They currently reside in Syracuse, N.Y.
