Hosting Raiders take Heroes tourney

FALLEN HEROES TOURNAMENT >> The Canastota wrestling team captured the title in its annual Fallen Heroes Tournament on Saturday, led by firstplace finishes from Colby Bixby at 120, Ben Marshall at 160 and Doug Simmons at 182. Darren Domenicone fell to Bixby in the final at 120 for a secondplac­e finish and the Raiders also had third-place finishes by Nick Rouse at 132, Marshall Bruggeman at 138, Mike Leibl at 220 and Nate Saunders at 285. Chittenang­o also had a solid performanc­e at the tournament, with firstplace finishes going to Connor Fredericks at 170 and Antonio Cutrie at 220 and Cory Fredericks placing second at 195 for the seventh-place Bears. LEO J. SAMMON MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT >> Camden earned a third-place finish at Central Valley Academy’s annual tournament, finishing behind the firstplace host and secondplac­e Norwich. Ri leHunter Williams at 120, Colby Johnson at 132 and Daniel Alberico at 145. Joaquin Nieves was the top finisher for 11th-place Oneida, coming in fifth at 145.

CANASTOTA 3, WESTMORELA­ND 1 >> The Raiders improved to 3-1 with the 25-13, 29- 31, 25-14, 2513 victory, led by 13 kills from Ian Torkelson, 12 digs from Sam Cesario and 29 assists from Ethan Findlay.
