CLINTON, N.Y. >> Hamilton College Department of Music presents Vision of Sound: (making) PLACE on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3p. m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

This is the 11th edition of the Society for New Music’s Vision of Sound program, which is committed to promoting the work of living composers and choreograp­hers from across Upstate New York. For this production, upstate composers and choreograp­hers will collaborat­e on new works focused on “place” and what that means and has meant in their lives.

Composers participat­ing are: Stephen Ferre (Syracuse University), Paul Leary ( SUNY- Oswego), Mark Olivieri (Hobart & William Smith Colleges), Sam Pellman ( Hamilton College), Octavio Vazquez ( Nazareth College), and Gregory Wanamaker (Crane School– SUNY-Potsdam).

Work s being per - formed include such titles as, “Homestead” (with v ideo), “microMoon” (with live electronic­s & live video), and “Out of Mind, into Body.”

The choreograp­hers represent dance companies and dance faculties across the region from Alfred, Brockport, Rochester, Geneva, Syracuse, and Oswego.

They are: Rose Pasquarell­o Beauchamp, Brandon Ellis, Nanako Horikawa Mandrino, Edward Murphy, Cheryl Wilkins- Mitchel l and Kaitley Wozer.

Examples of the choreograp­hic titles include “she shapers,” “Inner Sanctum” and “Place” (I am a Child of the Universe, Stay in your Place, A Time & a Place, Free Your Mind).

Musicians performing with the dancers, video and ‘ live’ electronic­s are Rob Auler on piano, John Friedrichs on clarinet, Ahreum Kim on violin, and Jennifer Vaughn on cello. All are renowned soloists and recording artists.

This event is free and open to the public. All seating is general admission.
